An affiliate link is a normal retail link that contains an extra identifier. It tells the retailer's affiliate programme that the visitor came from this site, so that if a purchase follows, a commission is attributed to us. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin — the price you pay is identical whether you arrive through our link or by typing the retailer's address yourself.
Links pointing to retailers (currently Amazon UK) on our buying guides and comparisons are typically affiliate links. Links to non-retailer pages, and internal links between our own pages, are not.

We do not pay for reviews, and we do not accept payment, free products or other incentives in exchange for a positive review. Where a product has been supplied to us for evaluation, that will be stated clearly on the relevant page.
